Young girl holding a walking stick at Great Insect Fair.

    This young girl learned
    about Australian walkingsticks
    in the Insect Zoo.
Being able to handle some of
    the friendlier insects is fascinating
    to young and old alike!

The Penn State Ag Arena once again served as the location for the 2006 Great Insect Fair. Many who attended commented on another great experience at The Fair. Many thanks go to Steve Jacobs, Chair of this year's event, and the many committee members and volunteers who helped to make the Great Insect Fair possible. A huge thank you is also given to all who generously made a donation, helping to offset Insect Fair expenses! We would especially like to thank J.C.Ehrlich for their generous contribution to this year's Insect Fair!

Bus transportation was available once again for tours of The Frost Entomological Museum's vast insect collection. They were treated to a behind-the-scenes view of the museum's facilities and some of the 700,000+ specimens.

Live music performances were held inside the Ag Arena with Tommy Wareham and Tom Baker, The Penn State a cappella group "The Dreamers" and more. The Lady Bug Theatre presented a series of videos at the Visitor's Center which were very popular. They included two Eyewitness videos on butterflies & moths and videos on honey bees, flies and mosquitoes.

Extensive insect collections were displayed by several Pennsylvania 4-H groups and the Maryland Entomological Society.

Images for this site were contributed by: Casey Delphia, Katie Ellis, Michelle Niedermeier and Roxie Smith.
