Thrust Areas:
Population/Community
Ecology
Integrated Pest Management + (Biodiversity/Ecotoxicology Partners)
Insect/Plant Interactions
Research:
1)
understanding factors influencing insect diversity, 2) effects
of pesticides on non-target communities, 3) disease ecology,
and 4) behavioral and chemical ecology.
Research
Activities and Interests:
I
am presently working with several databases to explore what
biotic and abiotic factors influence insect communities and
diversity. I am also interested in how community structure
affects responses to contaminants and how contaminants shape
communities. In particular, I have focused on how community
structure and contaminants affect disease properties and taxa
of global conservation concern. A separate line of work explores
how spatiotemporal variation influences responses to chemical
cues and pheromones. Finally, I am involved in a new project
investigating competition between carnivorous plants and spiders.
