Current research activities:
Work in USDA APHIS CPHST project (McPheron’s Lab) which is performing phylogenetic and population genetics analysis of fruit flies using microsatellite markers (Nuclear DNA) and mitochondrial DNA sequencing” Job responsibilities include performing basic molecular techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, genotyping, and genetic data analysis) as well as general lab management including some supervision of undergraduate researchers.
Research Interest:
Modern molecular biological approaches applied to biodiversity conservation, genetic resources conservation, evolution and related areas. Particularly interested in the field of molecular ecology, phylogenetics, population genetics, mating system, reproduction dynamic of plants, fungi and insects.
