I'm working to clarify the movement of female European corn borers at a landscape level.  Since females determine where eggs are laid, and thus where damage occurs, their movement has significant implications for pest management.  Previous research indicates that females (generally) prefer more mature corn, but it is unclear the scale at which the most desirable host plants are attracting females.  I am using a smaller-scale field plot as well as growth chamber studies and a large-scale GIS observation study as components of a predictive model.
