Education at the Frost
Entomological Museum
A
public display area is open to the public during the week Monday
through Friday, 9:30 am-4:30 pm. There is no charge for admission.
Many of our displays are geared towards
children. Children and adults enjoy our live arthropod
zoo and the working beehive that
is on display.
Guided
Tours
We
offer short guided tours of our collections and of our live insect
displays. These tours focus on understanding and appreciating biodiversity,
and on the scientific role of insect museums in both documenting
and preserving biodiversity. For very young children the focus is
on accepting insects and other small animals as interesting and
important creatures. With progressively older children we emphasize
an appreciation of insects and other invertebrates as critical elements
of a healthy environment. With older students and adults there is
discussion of the impacts of human activities on biodiversity.
If you would
like to set up a tour for your group, contact Hannah Stout at hxc16@psu.edu.
Group sizes must be kept to about 25, as our space is limited.
