Faculty, staff and students occasionally make time for more lighthearted get-togethers and activities. Typically, a fall get-together (picnic, pig roast, hay ride, etc.) is planned shortly after classes begin. 'Winter Fest' is held in January featuring a 'Chili Cook-off' with interesting prizes awarded for various categories. Spring and summer have found various activities planned such as fishing/camping/canoeing trips, white water rafting, and picnics at local parks.

Spontaneous activities also occur -
such as Halloween trick-or-treaters and even wheelchair races!

Grad student, Jim McNeil, created this 'Locustman' costume' and descended on offices and meetings throughout the department on Halloween.

Mike Saunders (inspiration for the race) approaches the finish line - capturing 2nd place by a toe!	Ottar Bjornstad, cheered on by supportive spectators and fellow competitors, took top honors for the Men's Division.	Isabella Cattadori won 1st place for Women's Division.

Graduate students also enjoy frequent get-togethers of their own
(cross-country skiing, biking, and just having fun together).
Several are married with young families and find a supportive network
amongst their fellow students.
